Check out HIV/AIDS Research One way to help the community is to volunteer for a clinical trial involved with HIV/AIDS research. What’s the deal with Clinical Trials? It’s a BIG Deal because clinical trials test the safety and/or effectiveness of drugs, devices, treatments, or preventive measures in treating a disease.
The following organizations perform local research in HIV/AIDS. These trials are not funded or directly linked to Kansas City Free Health Clinic or their funders.
Trials for those who are HIV Negative:
- St. Louis University HIV Vaccine Trials Unit (HVTU)
- Washington University AIDS Clinical Trials (ACTU)Â
- Contact your Primary Care provider (Doctor, Nurse or Pharmacist) to help you decide what is right for you.
Trials for those who are HIV Positive:
- Washington University AIDS Clinical Trials (ACTU)Â are carefully controlled research studies to answer questions about new ways of understanding HIV and related diseases. The ACTUÂ offers clinical trials to people (HIV+ and HIV-).
- Clinical trials can be a treatment option or enhance your current treatment for HIV
- Contact your HIV Youth or Family Case Manager for information and support to access HIV research and clinical trials
- Contact your HIV Primary Care provider (Doctor,
Nurse, Pharmacist) to help you decide what is right for you.
