Executive Director Sheridan Y. Wood
Sheri Wood has been the Executive Director of the Kansas City Free Health Clinic since January of 1996.聽 As such, she is responsible for the overall management of the nearly 40-year old clinic; the Clinic had over 52,628 patient visits, contacts and support activities last year and dispensed over 16,929 medications. Sheri was recognized as the Greater Kansas City Council on Philanthropy’s 2005 Nonprofit Executive of the Year; received the Mother Evelyn O'Neill award from St. Teresa's Academy in 2006 for "assisting the poor.". From January, 2007, through December, 2010, Sheri was President of the 12-Member Board of the National Association of Free Clinics and currently serves as past president and chairs the C.A.R.E. Clinic Committee. She is the Vice President of the Kansas City Care Network and Treasurer of the Missouri Association of Free Clinics.
Sheri is a 2010 Hats off to Mothers honoree and will be recognized at the Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 7th annual benefit luncheon. This luncheon honors remarkable mothers from the KC area and raises needed funds for United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Kansas City.
Prior to moving to Kansas City, she was the Executive Director of Nashville CARES, a community-based AIDS service organization that provided care to over 800 HIV infected/affected individuals.聽
Sheri is married to the Reverend Robert E. Wood, Retired Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Day School in Kansas City and they are parents of four adult children and they have four grandchildren.
